New Webmaster Needed! Being the webmaster has been fun for the last four years, but other work related functions will preclude my continuing. Anyone wishing to take over the webmaster's duties please contact the CGCVA's officers.
ATTENTION STORIS VETERANS. Mr. Jim Loback informs us about the "STORIS MUSEUM" "We are in the process or obtaining the former CGC STORIS for a museum in Juneau, Alaska. This will be a museum for all Alaska's maritime history as well as Coast Guard and the Revenue Cutter Service. He advises,
"We offer information surrounding the asbestos-related diseases that more and more of our nation’s military men and women have been exposed to during their service. Asbestos, the only cause for the cancer mesothelioma, was often used in many aspects of military life (shipbuilding, boiler rooms, housing, etc.). Unfortunately, thousands of people have contracted asbestos-related diseases because of their unknown exposure."
